ELSHIEKY

Comedian | Writer

Mohanad Elshieky is a New York-based, Libyan-born comedian who made his national TV debut on Conan, appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and has been featured on Comedy Central and Don't Tell Comedy. He has toured across the country with the critically acclaimed storytelling show Pop-Up Magazine.

Mohanad is currently a writer and consultant for the hit podcast Lovett or Leave It and was one of the hosts of Lemonada Media’s podcast I’m Sorry. He has also been featured in Kumail Nanjiani’s Little America book.

Known for his deceptively laid-back demeanor and whip-smart perspective on politics and culture, he combines sharp humor with incisive commentary.

The Portland Mercury called him “an undisputed genius of comedy.” Mohanad has also been featured on popular podcasts such as Lovett or Leave It, Pod Save the People, and Harmontown.

You Could

Do That On

Television

You Could Do That On Television is a weekly podcast where comedians Mohanad Elshieky and Hannah Wright dive into the insane era of early 2000s reality TV. In each episode they’ll focus on a different chaotic show, reminisce on all the wild things these genre-pioneering shows used to be able to get away with that would never fly now, and even talk to some former cast-members. From “Date My Mom” to “The Swan” to “The Pick-Up Artist”, our minds will be blown at what you could do on television

I’m Sorry

(The Podcast)

This is a podcast about apologies. Each week, our hosts unpack the latest and greatest in Twitter gaffes, petty beef, and not-so-subtle shade. Forgive? Forget? Or cancel? Listen to comedians Hoja Lopez, Mohanad Elshieky, and Kiki Monique process our public and personal controversies together. Let’s debate when to let stuff go and when to say #ImSorry.

Literally, I love it. Genuinely insightful and funny! I look forward to every episode!

Oregon Live
Mohanad Elshieky is one of Portland’s funniest people -- and we may not have him for much longer

“Before long, the Libyan-born stand-up comedian will be one of the Rose City’s “I knew him whens,” a rising star of the comedy scene who may soon depart for greener pastures like Los Angeles or New York City.

If you haven’t heard of him yet, you will soon.”

Willamette Week
Mohanad Elshieky Started Telling Jokes at a Radio Station in Benghazi. Now He’s Got a Shot on “Conan.”

““I want you to think I am funny, I don’t want you to think every Libyan out there is funny,” says Elshieky. “Some of them are boring as fuck, and it’s fine.”
